You're a Real Teacher Now!

I have been teaching one week so far and I am totally immersed in 4th grade. All my little buddies in lower grades, and some fifth grade too, have passed me in the hall and said "You're a real teacher now, Mrs. Eagney." SO cute!! Grades are due this week, luckily I don't have too many grades yet, so the other 4th grade teachers will be doing my work for me! I will be their beck and call girl for the day since they will have so much to work on for me!! My room is starting to come together, I just received a TON of cute postery things from the Cross family so that I can make it look even better! My mom bought me a super awesome pencil sharpener, hopefully the kids won't break it! The downside to all this great news is that I don't really have time to take a lot of pics and blog about them. Once things get settled and I fall into a routine, I'm sure it will get better on the blogging front. But for now, I'm trying for once a week!

Doggie Day Care. Abby came over for a visit one night when Chris and Mike were watching soccer. They all lay nicely down in the kitchen!

This in one end of my classroom.

And this is the other! That's my desk on the left. It's pretty awesome. And tidy.

Cloud Farts and Weiner Hearts

For those of you that I have not talked to today, I have some very exciting news! I was hired today as a 4th grade teacher at the school where I always work!!! I had an interview on Monday, I didn't really tell anyone because I was tired of then telling everyone that I did not get the job. My reverse psychology worked and I finally got the job! I will be working with all my friends with a bunch of great kids so I am just so excited that I feel like I am in a dream. Ten years after graduating college I am finally on a career path that I feel is right for me. I have never had such as important job and I am extremely nervous but also very much ready to get into the class and learn/teach as much as I can! I start in the morning, working on my classroom, to get it ready, and then Monday will be my first day with the new children that have each been selected from the other 3 fourth grade classes. I must give a huge thanks to Jen for all her help, support and guidance. I owe you one! Also, to all my girls in the 4th grade! Thanks for the binder idea and all your help! You guys are so great!

I haven't been taking many pictures lately. We have been super busy with work, illnesses and soccer oh and reading about my new boyfriend, Edward. If you have not started reading the Twilight series, stop what you are doing and drive to your nearest bookstore and buy it. I can't remember the last time an author's words have moved me to tears.
Here is a pic from last weekend when I let Em have two of her girlfriends stay over. They are both little cheerleaders and they are such great friends to Em and really nice girls over all! Hanah, the blond, went to preschool with Em. Shelby is the one of the left. Paige also had her new friend, Georgia, over for dinner that night. Of course all the normal children ate their pizza in record time while the 3 Eagney girls were left at the table trying to finish theirs! And yes, those are WEBKINZ all over the dinner table!

Paige is coming right along in Kindergarten. While Em and I watched Project Runway, Paige wrote some sentences so that everyone can see how well she is doing! She did a great job thinking up those sentences all on her own. Can you believe it?

This is a pic from tonight. I know you can hardly see it but the sky is YELLOW! The air was YELLOW! We had severe storms all night and because of that and the tornado watch, we had our soccer games cancelled! BOO! We had chubby rain and loads of thunder/lightening, or cloud farts if you ask Emma.

A blog is barely a blog without a picture of a cat in a laundry basket.

Backlog

We've been pretty busy with soccer and horseback so far this year. For a while there it was soccer 4 nights a week. Now that games have started it's settled down to 2 nights a week, so maybe we can update a little more regularly again.

Emma and Paige are both doing great on their soccer teams. Neither team has lost a game. Paige had a game where they were up 3-0, but due to a coaching malfunction it ended tied at 3-3. Paige seems way more into soccer this year than she was last year, so we're happy about that. She is working really hard this season and getting some good scoring chances. She had a great shot that went just wide Wed. night. I really wanted that one to go in since it was against one of our arch rivals! It's the same bunch of doofus coaches from last year who think it's okay to have 3 parents on the field with their team. And the guy came up to Melissa before the game with some weird story about how he was going to start all girls so they didn't have to sit on the bench and watch the boys or something. He made no sense. Jen thinks he did that just so he could then put in all of the boys at the same time against Paige's team. Guess what? Didn't help. I think they won that game 4-0 or something. It was hard to keep the scores straight since Em and Paige had their games at the same time that night.

Em's team has been blowing the other teams out of the water! In her first game she scored, but the goal was disallowed due to the "mercy" rule. That's where you can't follow the actual rules of soccer if you are up by 5 goals. Hers would have been the sixth goal, but I guess it's no longer politically correct to make little loser babies sad when they get destroyed in a game, so Emma's goal didn't count. There is no reward for being good at sports anymore in the youth levels. You just get limitations put on you so the kids that aren't as good don't have to feel bad. Lame! Oh well, she scored in the next game too and that one was before they were up by 5 so it counted. The last game they played they won 2-1 and that was the closest one they've had. The score makes it sound closer than it really was though. Em's team is really good. It's just a good core group of players that makes the difference, and Emma is one of them. They also have this one kid who is amazing for his age. Melissa is going to try to get him on her travel team when that starts up...

Hmm... Paige hamming it up as usual.

Paige heading for the goal. All she needs now is the ball.

Now she has the ball, but needs to head for the goal.

Spectator! She'll probably be playing next year too.

Warming up in her sweet new kicks.

Always excited to see a camera!

Getting ready to support Noah's drive to the goal.

What's up with that? You think a push from the other team is going to stop her? Not a chance! By the way, do you like the way the league bought teams uniforms that we almost exactly the same color? In a game a couple days after this some little dope kicked the ball out of Em's hand while she was playing in goal. Not supposed to do that in soccer, but I guess the referee was busy thinking about what kind of zit cream he was going to buy after the game instead of actually earning the money he gets for "working" for the city. So he didn't call anything and Emma's finger was all swollen when we got home.

Em getting a shot off just over the defenders foot.

Uh huh. She took it away from this kid.
