There was a Delta launch this morning to send the next Mars lander (Phoenix) on it's way. I got up at 5:00 to take a picture of it, but didn't go anywhere since the girls were asleep in the house and there is no Mo here this weekend. So this is what you get from the front driveway. I would have liked to have a longer exposure to show the whole time it was in view, but the spot that I thought was safe to shoot from was actually in an area the sprinklers could reach, so I had to move right as the launch was taking place. Nice planning! I also only shot it until it went behind the palm tree. Once it comes out from behind there it is down to 3 solid rocket boosters (there are 6 firing in the picture) and it's pretty dim. Anyway, this is about 41 seconds worth of Delta II travel time. Back to bed!

ain't no joke! nothing boring about space exploration...especially when they are exploring Ur-anus.
