Well I am sitting here in Idaho and it is 9pm at night. Mom and I are alone with Grandma (for anyone who does not know already my g-ma has alzheimers). We ate a late lunch so we just now cooked and ate dinner. Bette and Woz have left to go on a week's vacation so mom and I are taking care of grandma. Dinner was great, mom cooked shepherds pie. Unfortunately it was not with real meat but I toughed it out!
What can I say about this trip. It's definitly not boring. I got here late Thursday night. Friday we woke Grandma up at 11 since I had not seen her in two years I was anxious to say good morning. Grandma looked at me like I was an intruder and I felt guilty that I had surprised her. But soon after that I won her over with my humor. All day Friday mom and I learned how to take care of grandma. She does pretty good. She dresses herself and she can walk(slowly). Pretty much she just reads tabloids all day long and watches Judge shows. She has a good time listening to us talk until around 5pm. That's when she "wants to go home." This usually takes a good amount of redirection and is more easily obtained when there are more people around. Yesterday Bette and I tag teamed her saying we had already called her mother and yes she said it was alright to eat dinner with us. Tonight it was just us 3 and mom was cooking dinner. Grandma gathered her tabloids and said she was heading home. We tried to convince her to stay but she wasn't having it. She was very jolly, laughing that we so badly wanted her to eat with us. She headed for the garage but found it shut and I told her I would take care of her as soon as I finished dinner. Then we sat down to eat and had a great time. Now we are watching a movie but I think she is going to start reading her tabloids again! Hopefully the rest of the night will go as smoothly.
In other news, I finished Harry Potter and it was one of the best books ever. Better hurry up and finish before I spill the beans....
