Saying Goodbye to a Legend

Loki will always be my legend to tell to anyone...who will listen...to my always present Loki stories of his bungles and mishaps. Like the time he came inside from playing and had a chunk of skin hanging and blood dripping and he wasn't even phased. Make that another visit to the ER. When he wasn't visiting the vet Loki could always be found at your feet. I think Karen said it best when describing Loki as the one who always made you feel like the most important one in the room. Loki hasn't been at my feet for 6 months now and my heart is slowing growing back together. It will probably always have a crack in it, thankfully Finley and Jazz are on the job gluing it back together!

You are probably wondering why I'm bringing all this up. I was finally able to take Loki's ashes to the dog beach and set him free. Running forever, off-leash! My dad and brother bought me a beautiful urn to keep some of his ashes in, but the rest were set swimming in his favorite spot, the very first, make that the only, beach he ever visited. (I will post pics later of the urn). As many of you know, I hate saying goodbye. At the airport, on vacation, on the phone, you get the picture. So these pictures are very quick as I didn't really take a lot of time to dwell on the goodbyes.....

We had a great sunset and storm brewing in the distance. A perfect setting.

Not very glamerous, fiddling with the plastic bag. I wish I could have done it better but the bag and the crappy urn from the vet were not helping.

That was it. As weird as this might sound. At this point, I found myself thinking I will Never get him back now. Unless Doc Brown comes thru with that time machine. Damn I miss that dog...
