Pit Bull Attack Leaves Two Wounded

In case you hadn't heard, my poor babies were attacked yesterday as soon as we started our ride/walk down the street. Turns out it was the neighbor's dog, which had slipped it's collar (again) since it was just tied up in the backyard with no supervision. Anyway, it was a pretty bad scene and last for a few minutes. I am so surprised Fin and Jazz aren't more wounded. Jazz was only bitten a couple of times since he was not fighting back the pit had no interest in him. At one point near the beginning, Fin had a good hold of its eye socket but I made him let go (WHY??). Once Fin let go of him the pit bit him and Jazz over and over. 3 men and a woman finally stopped to help and call police. Even with the men and myself kicking and spraying pepper spray, it took several minutes to get him off of Finley. It was a total nightmare and I could go on and on with details but most of you know them already! They both went to the vet for a checkup. Fin had to be put on antibiotics and anti-inflammatories since his bites were bad. He mostly got bit on the ears and shoulder but no skin was broken on his shoulder.

Last night, after their baths and checkup. They were not amused.

We went to Walmart to buy new leashes since mine were covered in pepper spray. They got some pig ears and a santa toy too!

Jazz helps while Finley demonstrates how the pit pulled on his ear.

They didn't understand why they had to be tortured with a bath after they had just been tortured on the street!

Poor little boo boos!

Not too gruesome. He was so lucky not have had more scratches than he ended up with.

Another angle.

Under the chin.

Kiki shows what she would have done if she had been attacked.

"Why me?" Poor guy just stood there and took the bites. Didn't fight back at all and still got bite after bite on his ear and shoulder.

His ear was too covered in fur to see much!

"And then I went like this!" said Finley as he shows Kiki his exaggerated moves.

Boda was anxious to have a go at the pit. If she would have been on the walk, this blog probably would have been much more bloody.

My sweet sweats, covered in smeared blood!

I second that!!

Way to go brave dogs!! You handled the situation very well. I hope the dumb neighbors realize they have a vicious, dangerous dog and either get rid of it or at least learn how to keep it chained up in their own yard.
