Nature day

Every time we have guests it's a depressing event to have to take them back to the airport to leave us. We took Nanny to the airport this morning and Em seemed pretty down on the way back. After the airport, we met up with Bobbie, Paige and Soph on the way back from Dance class. We met them at Read-Pattillo for the Fitness Frenzy carnival thing. we only had a short time there since we arrived late but the girls enjoyed it. In trying to fill up the rest of the day I proposed a hike down at the Canaveral National Seashore/Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge. Melissa and the girls had never been there and I had only driven through and never tried the trails. It was pretty nice and I got a lot of pictures. The trails were kind of a disappointment, since the ones we had access to were just short walks. It would have been nice to go for a longer walk but we all had a good time. Ethan had a birthday party to go to so Chris met followed us down there with Noah and Will. First we went to a trail that has a couple of bird blinds that you can sit in and the trail is off of a one-way loop nature drive. Then we tried to go to Scrub Jay Trail, but we started walking down that and after about a hundred yards the trail was flooded so we couldn't go any further. The last thing we did was hit the Manatee Observation Deck at Haulover Canal. Guess what we saw there??? Yeah. Manatees.

Mo walking to read the welcome sign at the trail head.

Pelican!

Sophie taking a glance back

Paige decided to wear the hat like a "photographer". Her hair was under direct influence of the wind.

Spoonbill!

Some grey bird!

Still windy

Another photographer hat

Finally! A gator!

Not too timid

This is right before I wrestled it. I had to kill it to get the giant emerald known as El Corazon out of it, but I at least made it into a pair of sweet boots. Are you the Joan Wilder?

Are you eyeballing me?

Bald eagle! This bird loves freedom.

Coming right at us

I think it wanted to take a giant poop on our car
