I had another delay tonight on the bathroom when the high quality floor scraper I bought today at Harbor Freight broke after 5 minutes of use. I bought it to replace the OTHER cheap scraper I had already broken this week. $4.99 gets you nuthin'. So I had to go to Home Depot and drop $30 on the real deal. Once I had that the floor scraping was quick work and I was ready to start tiling. After dinner, that is. I made fish and a baked potato. Then it was back to work. I had to assemble the tile saw and set that up in the garage. That took a bit of time but I finally started cutting tiles around 8:45. It's 11:55 now and I've done all the cutting I can for tonight. I only have half a bag of flex bond, so I can't set the whole floor tonight, but after this post I'm going to go do what I can. Then tomorrow I finish setting the tiles and start grouting. I'll buy quick set for the tiles I can't get done tonight and I should be able to grout after 2 hours. Here are some pictures so you can see what it is starting to look like.
Bad lighting makes everything look the same color in these... I hadn't noticed it but I moved the preset on Em's camera to Landscape, which made these turn out like poo. No time to re-shoot. I want to get some of these tiles stuck to the floor before I pass out.
****UPDATE****
The tile setting phase of Operation "Should-Have-Hired-Someone" is now 50% complete. It's 1:00 a.m. and I'm going to bed.
It looks like I will be able to complete the bathroom before I leave for vacation on Saturday. My flight out is at 4:15 so I have half of Saturday to work the final pieces. I may leave the trim work until after the trip, but the girls will have a functional remodeled bathroom when they get home.
EVERYONE READING THIS SHOULD LEAVE ME A COMMENT AND TELL ME WHETHER THEY THINK I SHOULD DO WHITE GROUT OR TINTED. EVERYONE! YOU HAVE UNTIL I LEAVE WORK TOMORROW AFTERNOON TO PROVIDE INPUT.
