Here is the pond, after I had put some water back into it. While I love this pond and its shape, I have to say the pump/filter are not that suited for it. The sprayer is so tall, often it will tip over in a heavy rain storm. It has emptied on several occasions that way, I have learned to check it often during our frequent storms. We have since learned to anchor it down with...of all things...a stepping stone with Loki's pawprint on it.
Whilst I was waiting for the pond to fill I shined the flashlight around to find some wildlife. And what did I find? We have two treefrogs that live above the window by the pond. They come out during the night to make babies. Here is the mother. Please note. I tried to get Mike out of bed to take a pic with his fancy camera but he does not like walking around in our backyard in his underwear. So you are left with a blurry, could be closer, shot
This is the dad. I can tell because he is way more macho looking.
And these are the babies. I mean, am I Jeff Corwin or what? I found all these suckers in seconds! See there, those two brown spots on the stems? Those are fully developed air breathing frogs with some leftover tail. Am I the only one excited right now? I know you can't see every little detail of their cute little bodies but dang!
This sucker jumped out at me while I was running for the hose. I narrowly missed him with my averaged sized foot! He is NOT a tree frog.
