Rat Bauer

Day Two of Operation Cat Rescue
As day one ended I was bitten and scratched but the game was not over. Some of you might have advised me to throw the poor thing in a lake (Gregory). Some of you probably think I'm crazy. But while the last might be true I definitly could not go thru with the first. Afterall, if I let it loose it could possible create 500 more cats within it's lifetime (Don't you people listen to Bob Barker?!). So of course I had to keep it and get it immunized and fixed. Since it bit me I called the Vet first thing to see what to do. After that phone call I think I was pretty much hysterical the rest of the morning. I think that happened because the vet assistant on the phone ended one of her sentences with something like this "....and if you don't do that, then you're a goner." OH, OK. Thanks. That's when the freaking out occurred. I got on the phone with my Dr. and the health dept. and after talking to the "rabies person" in Daytona we decided I definitly needed a Tetanus shot and a round of antibiotics. I also have to keep an eye on the cat for 10 days before we do anything. The nurse from Daytona said a cat that small would die in 10 days or less if it had rabies. So after 10 days, if it is alive still then I am in the clear and won't need the 1500$ worth of rabies shots. In the meantime we are getting to know our new kitty better. The girls are not allowed near it but I did let Em come out to take its pic today. I was holding it on the hot tub and Em climbed up there and scared it so it put it's ears back. I keep saying "it" because we don't know the sex yet.

I picked up the kitty and tried to cuddle it. She is pretty calm as long as you don't move too fast. I don't know if she has eaten or had any water so I am getting a little worried seeing as how that is a sign of rabies. Of course it is also a sign of being separated from your mother for the first time...

I'm such a wuss! This is my shot. It really hurt yall. I feel like my arm is all limp now.
